I love anthropomorphic images. This was taken in the winter. We were looking for an old mental hospital - still not too clear about what the deal was with that other than we found a very small building encircled by an electric fence. In any event… there was a small set of agricultural buildings that were fun to go thru.

This was a busy Sunday, urbex-wise. Here is a shot from the first location - an abandoned mine company in southwestern PA. It was so humid that day, I looked like i just stepped out of the shower - I was completely drenched!
What I liked about this shot was the bright sunshine in the foreground and the dark clouds rolling in behind the bathhouse. I desaturated the green a little but I am wonder if maybe I should have left that brilliant, strong green in.

Ahhh, this was a space I had wanted to see so badly and did not disappoint once inside. I am pretty happy overall with this one. It is an HDR from 9 exposures total and it came out looking pretty natural looking. I love how the reflections give it a sense of depth and how well the lighting came out - the space was pretty dark in the center area.

Sometimes the simplest images are interesting. I really like how your eye is pulled down the hall on this one and the beautiful light streams in.
I want to go back to this site. We did not get to fully explore it because we heard people coming in on the lower levels. Thankfully it is not too far away.

A couple of weeks ago I headed back to Detroit. I love shooting in that city and always look forward to going back - great urbex, amazing people and good food :)

This last weekend a couple of friends of mine and I did a little urbex in the ‘burgh. This was from a site I had long wanted to check out but was a little disappointed so much of the equipment had already been removed. We did not end up going thru the bulk of the space but I did catch a few interesting things…. like the switches and knobs of the control panel here.
